Unforeseen Events and Travel Insured Coverage

Travel Insured International plans include specified unforeseen events as covered reasons for Trip Cancellation / Trip Interruption protection. However, once an identification of an event is publicly announced it no longer meets the plan definition of unforeseen as something neither anticipated nor expected.

For example, a hurricane is no longer unforeseen once a tropical storm, either potentially or currently a hurricane, is identified and named by the U.S. Weather Service. A strike is no longer unforeseen once the union votes to authorize a strike.

Travel Insured monitors developing situations affecting travel insurance coverage. Once a specific event is publicly identified we will consider adding a news alert to our Travel Insured web site and / or updating our message specific to each situation.
