Unexpected Air Jamaica Employee Walkout
Travel Weekly, in a March 26, 2008 article, reported that 38 flight attendants of Air Jamaica walked off their jobs at the airline on Tuesday, March 25, resulting in many flight cancellations from the U.S. and Canada to Jamaica. The report said several flight departures to Montego Bay and Kingston, Jamaica, were cancelled in Miami and Fort Lauderdale, FL and in Toronto. Scheduled flights from New York's JFK to Jamaica through at least March 28, as of this writing, are not available on the Air Jamaica Web site.
Air Jamaica officials were meeting in Jamaica, as of March 26, in hopes of resolving this "unexpected" strike situation over worker grievances, according to Travel Weekly's quote from an airline official.
