BA Pilots Strike Possible after Feb. 21 Union Vote and March 8 Stoppage of
Negotiations
A British Airways pilots strike is threatened, according to the BBC News in the
UK, after negotiations broke down over the weekend of March 8, 2008 between the
British Airlines Pilots Association (BALPA) and British Airways over
differences regarding hiring and salary issues for the new low-cost airline
OpenSkies, being launched by British Airways. The pilots union officially voted
on Feb. 21, 2008 to authorize a strike, but agreed to participate in
arbitration negotiations that have now broken down.
No anticipated strike date has yet been announced, according to the BBC.
