Accidental Death & Dismemberment Common Carrier Air Only

Accidental Death & Dismemberment Common Carrier Air Only is available in all Worldwide Trip Protector Plans. In WTP Gold a maximum benefit of $100,000 for this coverage is included in the plan, but it may be upgraded with an option for $250,000, $500,000 or $1 million worth of maximum coverage. In the comprehensive Worldwide Trip Protector, WTP Lite or WTP Lite Expanded, Accidental Death & Dismemberment Air Only is available only as on optional coverage in the customer’s choice of four (4) levels of maximum protection: $100,000; $250,000; $500,000 or $1 million.

Any of the optional Accidental Death & Dismemberment Air Only coverage is only in effect when it is requested on the original insurance application and the appropriate plan cost for the level of selected coverage has been paid. 

This coverage protects the insured from any injury sustained while riding in an aircraft or while boarding or exiting from an aircraft, as well as from any injury caused by being struck or run down by an aircraft. If the travel injury sustained due to the aircraft accident results, within 180 days of the accident, in the insured’s death, in the severance of a limb, or in irretrievable loss of eyesight, speech or hearing, the Accidental Death & Dismemberment Common Carrier Air Only coverage will pay the largest amount of the following benefits.

 

The full benefit is paid for the loss of:

  • Life
  • Two hands
  • Two feet
  • Speech or hearing in both ears
  • One hand and one foot
  • Sight in both eyes
  • One hand or one foot and

       Sight in one eye

One-half of the benefit is paid for:

  • Loss of one hand or one foot
  • Speech
  • Hearing in both ears
  • Sight on one eye

 

One-fourth of the benefit is paid for:

  • Loss of the thumb and index finger of the same hand

 

Benefits will NOT be paid for the following:

  • More than the maximum benefit listed on the Schedule of Benefits for all losses due to the same accident.

 

Benefits WILL be paid for the following:

  • Benefits will be paid for covered travel accident losses if you are unavoidably exposed to the elements due to the accident.
  • Loss of life benefits will be paid when a disappearance occurs and the insured’s body cannot be found for a year after the disappearance due to forced landing, stranding, sinking or wrecking of the conveyance upon which the insured was a passenger.
