If You Don't Go Without Health Insurance at Home, Why Take the Risk While You're Away?

Travel Insured provides coverage for medical expenses incurred during travel, particularly outside of the U.S., that health insurance providers frequently deny as out of network, abandoning sick and injured travelers to potentially substandard treatment options and devastating financial losses.

Our Worldwide Trip Protector plans include:

  • Coverage for medical expense due to accident or sickness while you’re away
  • Hospital admission guarantee, with advance payment if required
  • Physician-coordinated emergency evacuation and transportation home due to medical reasons
  • Trip Cancellation or Trip Interruption due to a medical reason affecting yourself, or your spouse, child, parent, domestic partner, or other family member (even if the other person is not insured or not traveling)

*Coverage for Pre-existing Medical Conditions

Coverage for pre-existing medical conditions is available in Worldwide Trip Protector Gold (30-day time frame), Worldwide Trip Protector (21-day time frame) and Trip Protector Lite Expanded (14-day time frame)  if you purchase your policy within the required time frame after your trip deposit date. Pre-existing Medical coverage is not purchased separately.

Coverage for pre-existing medical conditions applies to Emergency Accident and Sickness Medical Expense, the Medical Upgrade, and medically related reasons for Trip Cancellation. Even if you don't purchase your policy within the required time frame for pre-existing medical conditions coverage, the Emergency Evacuation, Medically Necessary Repatriation and Repatriation of Remains benefit covers pre-existing medical conditions.

If the medical condition and its treatment have remained unchanged for 180 days prior to the day you purchase your policy, it is not considered pre-existing and is covered as a regular medical condition for Trip Cancellation/Interruption, Emergency Accident and Sickness Medical Expense, and the Medical Upgrade even if you do not purchase your policy within the time limits mentioned above.

From U.S. State Department's Tips for Travel Abroad:

"Obtaining medical treatment and hospital care abroad can be expensive, and medical evacuation to the U.S. can cost more than $50,000. Note that U.S. medical insurance is generally not accepted outside the United States, nor do the Social Security Medicare and Medicaid programs provide coverage for hospital or medical costs outside the United States.

"If your insurance policy does not cover you abroad, it is a good idea to consider purchasing a short-term policy that does..."
