A Tropical Storm was identified at 6:30 p.m. EDT on Monday, Aug. 1, 2011 after reaching sustained winds of 40 miles per hour at a location about 80 miles southwest of the island of Dominica. It was given the name Tropical Storm Emily by the U.S. National Weather Service Hurricane Center, and was moving westward over the Caribbean Sea.
