Hurricane Katia Officially Identified & Named

A Tropical Storm was identified at 5:00 a.m. EDT on Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2011 after reaching sustained winds of 40 miles per hour at a location in the eastern Atlantic Ocean about 535 miles southwest of the Cape Verde Islands. It was given the name Tropical Storm Katia by the U.S. National Weather Service Hurricane Center, and strengthened to become Hurricane Katia (75+ mph winds) as it moved to the northwest over the Atlantic.

Travel Insured International plans purchased on or before Aug. 29, 2011 can provide coverage for adverse weather claims due to Hurricane Katia or its resulting weather pattern. Travel Insured plans can provide coverage for adverse weather claims due to future tropical storms and their resulting weather patterns provided plans are purchased by the day before the date on which a covered storm is identified and named by the U.S. National Weather Service.
