A Tropical Storm was identified at 11:00 a.m. EDT on Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2011 after reaching sustained winds of 50 miles per hour at a location in the eastern Atlantic Ocean about 1,965 miles west of the Cape Verde Islands. It was given the name Tropical Storm Maria by the U.S. National Weather Service Hurricane Center as it moved to the west over the Atlantic.

Travel Insured International plans purchased on or before Sept. 6, 2011 can provide coverage for adverse weather claims due to Tropical Storm Maria or its resulting weather pattern. Travel Insured plans can provide coverage for adverse weather claims due to future tropical storms and their resulting weather patterns provided plans are purchased by the day before the date on which a covered storm is identified and named by the U.S. National Weather Service.
