The travel industry publication Travel Market Report published an April 11, 2011 article stating that at least two U.S. based tour operators are either already visiting Japan or plan to resume tours to Japan this spring.

According to spokespersons for the two companies, electric power is at 100 percent availability in central Tokyo while it is being rationed in some suburban areas outside the capital. There is full electric power in western Japan, as well as normal train service from Tokyo to those areas. The operators also claim that radiation levels in Tokyo as a result of the Fukushima nuclear reactor accident are not excessive in comparison to other cities such as Hong Kong or even New York.

Travelers interested in learning more information about conditions in Japan are recommended to visit the Japan National Tourist Office site here, or another blog about Japan, written by expatriates who live there, at www.japanprobe.com.
