Domestic
Partner Coverage
|
|
Travel Insured offers domestic partners a waiver of a Pre-Existing Medical Condition exclusion – meaning insurance coverage is extended to such conditions – provided our Worldwide Trip Protector comprehensive plan is purchased within 14 days of the trip deposit. The insured person must be able to travel when they purchase the plan, and the covered trip must also be the first and only booking for the dates and destination for the waiver to apply. The Pre-Existing Condition waiver can extend to the traveler, his or her travel companion and to members of their families, including the documented domestic partner. |

The following Worldwide Trip
Protector Trip Cancellation or Trip Interruption benefits can extend to the
“Domestic Partner”:
Q
Waiver of the
“Pre-Existing Medical Condition” exclusion.
This means a Pre-Existing Condition can be covered under the policy (see qualifications
below). This is any injury, sickness or condition of the insured, a traveling
companion, or any family members, including a domestic partner. It is
Pre-Existing when medical advice, diagnosis or treatment was given during 180
days immediately before the policy effective date. When no change occurs in an
ongoing prescription or treatment during the 180 days, the condition is not
considered Pre-Existing.
Q
Qualifications
for the Pre-Existing coverage include: a WTP insurance purchase within 14 days
of initial trip deposit; a policy purchase for the full, non-refundable trip
cost; the insured must not be disabled at the time of policy purchase, and the
insured trip must be the first and only booking for the same dates and
destination.
Q
Trip Cancellation or
Trip Interruption for any Sickness, Accident, Injury or Death to the Insured or
a Family member can be covered. A family member, under the policy definition,
includes a documented Domestic Partner.
Q Under Travel Insured’s WTP Emergency Evacuation, the policy can pay for one person, chosen by the insured, to travel to and from a hospital where the sick or injured person is confined with no attending travel companion. This can cover up to the cost of a roundtrip economy airline ticket. |
