Trip Delay

Marvin and Mark arrived in their cruise departure city to find that the cruise ship was delayed until the next day. The brothers had to get a hotel for the night, purchase three meals, and take a cab to the cruise port. The cost for hotel, meals, and transportation was $150 for each of them.

Marvin got the $150 reimbursed with travel insurance.

Mark had no travel coverage and no reimbursement.

Stomach Bug

On the day of an excursion, Marvin and Mark came down with a stomach bug. They saw a doctor and got medication, for a total bill of $200 each.

Marvin was reimbursed with travel insurance for the $200 doctor bill.

Mark had no travel coverage and no reimbursement.

Missed Excursion

Because Marvin and Mark were too ill to do much of anything that day, they had to miss their excursion, which each of them had already paid $100 for.

Marvin was reimbursed with travel insurance for the missed excursion.

Because Mark had no travel coverage, he couldn't get his lost excursion money back.

Total Additional Expenses

Original Trip Total + Additional Expenses = Final Trip Total

Because of the trip delay, medical cost, and missed excursion, Marvin and Mark had some unexpected expenses. Marvin was able to get those expenses reimbursed with his travel protection plan.

Marvin's final trip total = $1,977

Mark's final trip total = $2,350
