What You Can Do If You Get Sick Before Your Trip
Getting sick before your trip can be a downer and we understand. We offer travel insurance benefits that may help you recover a portion or all of your prepaid, forfeited, and non-refundable trip costs.
If you get sick before your trip, you may be covered for Trip Cancellation.
Steps to Take
- Cancel your trip with your travel supplier(s) within 72 hours of getting sick. If your sickness delays the reporting of the cancellation, report your sickness as soon as reasonably possible.
- Submit a claim online for review at unw.travelinsured.com.
Coverage
Your coverage for Trip Cancellation begins the day after you purchase your plan and reimburses up to 100% of your covered trip costs if your sickness:
- occurs before your trip departure,
- requires medical treatment prior to cancellation,
- creates disabling medical restrictions (certified by a physician) that cause you to cancel your trip.
If you purchase a plan and select the Optional Cancel for Any Reason (CFAR) benefit:
Steps to Take
- Cancel your trip 48 hours or more before your departure date.
- Submit a claim online for review at www.travelinsured.com.
Coverage
- Your coverage for CFAR begins the day after you purchase your plan.
- The benefit allows you to cancel your trip for any reason.
- Reimburses up to 75% of your covered trip costs.*
Note: CFAR is not available for residents of New York State.
*Additional costs and terms apply.
