October 2025 Government Shutdown

As the government shutdown continues, many travelers are beginning to question how it will affect their upcoming travel plans. After reviewing the situation, our position states that if You are a government worker furloughed during the government shutdown, You are considered “laid off” for the purposes of Trip Cancellation and Trip Interruption coverages. Therefore, affected travel itineraries may be eligible for coverage under these benefits.

We also remind travelers that by investing in a plan with Cancel for Any Reason coverage, you can cancel your plans and receive up to 75% of your total prepaid, nonrefundable trip cost for any reason not otherwise covered by your plan. You must cancel 48 or more hours prior to your scheduled departure date to be eligible. This benefit is available in the Worldwide Trip Protector Platinum and Deluxe plans if purchased within 21 days (Platinum) or 14 days (Deluxe) of your initial trip deposit (additional terms apply).

Since this event is no longer unforeseen, plans issued on or after October 1, 2025 will not cover this event.
