A Tropical Storm was identified at 5 p.m. EDT on Thursday, September 23, 2010 after reaching sustained winds of 40 miles per hour at a location about 435 miles east of Puerto Cabezas, Nicaragua in the southwestern Caribbean Sea. It was given the name Tropical Storm Matthew by the U.S. National Weather Service Hurricane Center, and was moving west over the Caribbean toward the Nicaragua / Honduras border region.
