A Tropical Storm was identified at 2:00 p.m. EDT on Tuesday , Aug. 7, 2012 at a location 185 miles East of Chetumal, Mexico. It was given the name Tropical Storm Ernesto by the U.S. National Weather Service Hurricane Center, and strengthened to become Hurricane Ernesto (75+ mph winds) as it moved West-Northwest towards the East coast of the Yucatan Peninsula.
