Movie fans who can't get enough of their hobby often like to combine their vacations with visits to locations where scenes from their favorite movies were filmed. The obvious destination of choice for these travelers is Hollywood, where both escorted walking tours of film studios and escorted motorcoach tours riding past Beverly Hills estates owned by current and former movie stars are plentiful. There are, however, online and printed guides for visiting locations of film scene shooting sites in many destinations on your own. One of the best is the online "Worldwide Guide to Movie Locations," featuring pictures of sites from famous movies listed in alphabetical order. Favorite movie stars and their film sites are found in a separate alphabetical listing of the actors. Not all available movies are online, however, and fans wanting more film locations and details can order a 464-page printed travel guide to the locations of 1,600 films. You can reach the site here.
Separately, the Worldwide Guide to Movie Locations has recently launched a travel guide to the most important movie focused destinations, starting with Los Angeles. In the future there will be destination sections added for movie making centers such as New York, London and Toronto. The new Los Angeles movie travel section is found here.
Another web site called "Seeing the Stars in Hollywood" offers a list and links to about a dozen famous film studios in the Los Angeles and Hollywood area that offer escorted studios tours. You can find the site here. Movie fans wanting to find an escorted tour of the stars' home can simply search online for "Beverly Hills Stars Homes Tours" to find an assortment of offers from escorted tours to self-guided tours on CDs you can play in your rental car.
