On February 4, 2018, a strong earthquake struck Taiwan, killing and injuring many and destroying several structures. We extend our deepest condolences to those who have been affected.
Travel Insured International has determined that the earthquake in Taiwan became a known event on February 4, 2018, and confirms to travelers that coverage against natural disasters may be included in plans purchased under the company's Worldwide Trip Protector brand including Worldwide Trip Protector Plus, Worldwide Trip Protector, and Worldwide Trip Protector Lite.
Travel Insured plan holders who purchased on or before February 3, 2018 and whose itineraries include Taiwan may be eligible for coverage within the Trip Cancellation, Trip Interruption or Travel Delay benefits because of a natural disaster.
The plans provide Trip Cancellation or Trip Interruption coverage when a Natural Disaster causes the insured traveler’s primary place of residence or destination to be rendered uninhabitable and remains uninhabitable during the time of the scheduled trip dates. The plans also provide Travel Delay coverage if the traveler is delayed for 6 or more hours while en route to or from, or during the trip. Travelers are reminded that they must purchase a plan before the earthquake occurred in order to obtain coverage. Once the earthquake occurs it is no longer unforeseen, and coverage is no longer available.
For insured travelers who purchased Cancel for Any Reason coverage, we remind you that cancellations must be made 48 or more hours prior to scheduled departure and payment is limited to 75% of the non-refundable trip cost up to the stated plan maximum limit.
Every Travel Insured plan also includes Non-Insurance Emergency Travel Assistance Services available 24/7 to help travelers whenever they are in need of assistance during their trip. Please refer to your actual plan document for the specific terms and conditions of the specific plan purchased as eligibility for coverage varies based upon the specific plan terms, conditions and limitations, and may vary by state or may not be available in all states. Travel Insured recommends travelers purchase proper travel protection plans in case of unforeseen circumstances.
At this time, we advise travelers to take enhanced precautions. Please contact us at 1-800-243-3174 with any questions you may have.
