There are a few places that we might think of when we think of romance. For many of us, that list might include Niagara Falls. There’s something about the tremendous force of nature, coupled with the mysterious mist floating off the Falls that brings a romantic ambiance to the entire town that surrounds it. Many people have chosen this stunning location for proposals, wedding anniversaries, honeymoons, and Valentine’s Day getaways.

Whether you plan on visiting the Falls on the US side or on the Canadian side, there are plenty of romantic options for you to choose from starting from the moment you arrive until you leave. If you’re looking to check one of your Valentine’s Day Bucket List items, or just want a beautiful getaway in general, then keep reading for some itinerary inspiration.

Looking at the Falls

Would it really be a trip to Niagara if you didn’t make at least a quick stop to view the Falls? On Valentine’s Day, the water will look extra romantic and stunning. Starting at 7pm, every fifteen minutes until midnight, the Falls are illuminated with pink and red lights. Although a holiday centered around warm and fuzzy feelings, it does happen to occur during one of the colder months of the year. In addition to dressing warm, try using your viewing experience as an excuse to cuddle up next to your loved one. With love in the air, you may not feel as cold! Also, if you plan on making it to the Falls to see it pretty in pink, consider choosing a dining location that has a view of the waterfalls. Depending on the length of your meal, you’ll most likely see it change colors a few times. We think that’s a good recipe for quite the romantic experience!

Dinning by the Falls

Speaking of recipes, there are many options for dining that overlook Niagara Falls. Restaurants lean into the romance of the destination and the holiday to try and provide a one-of-a-kind, dreamy eating experience for couples from all around the world.

Massimo’s Italian Fallsview Restaurant is one place you might want to make a reservation if you’re planning to visit the Falls with your significant other. Chef Massimo Capra is one of Canada’s most well-known chefs. His Fallsview restaurant offers a modern twist on authentic Italian dishes. On Valentine’s Day, they offer a 3-course dinner for a fixed price per person, using fresh local flavors that lend themselves to the romance of the view overlooking the Falls.

The Skylon Tower Dining Room can be another great option if you’re looking for a special Canadian dinner with your loved one while taking in the wonder of the Falls. Here you will ride an elevator up 775 feet to their fine dining room. During your meal, you may notice that the dining room actually spins. Don’t worry though, the spinning is at a very slow rate. In fact, it takes an hour for the entire dining room to turn a full 360 degrees. Other views that you’ll have the opportunity to take in while you spin and eat are Niagara River, Niagara Parkway and Gardens, the United States border and on a clear day - the Toronto Skyline. The views from this restaurant are sure to dazzle no matter which direction you face.

Did someone say Chocolate?

Chocolate is one of those staple items most people can’t seem to forget about when it comes to this romance holiday. I mean, what says “I love you” better than a box of fine chocolate? If you agree, or you know how big your loved one’s sweet tooth is, consider stopping by the Fudge Factory located in Clifton Hills, ON. Here you’ll be able to watch all sorts of sweet treats be made by the “Candy Cooks” using traditional recipes. Choose from popular favorites like candy apples, peach slices, brittle and more. Plus… How could we forget the fudge? Think about saving some room in your luggage to bring some fudge home; it lasts at room temperature for quite some time.
